A Clear Story for Vaulted Ceilings

Are you planning on building a new home? Are you considering that, which will constitute the roof? Will the roof be built with rafters, trusses, SIPs? How will it be insulated? Will it be a high pitched gable roof? Will the vaulted ceilings inside have the same pitch as the roof?

As 21st century homebuyers, you have choices. You’re aware of the need for energy efficient roofs, especially in homes with high vaulted ceilings because heat rises. Advised to buy ENERGY STAR® qualified products, including better insulation and more modern technology, you won’t settle for less. You’d like to have your roof installed quickly; you want it stronger and more energy efficient. As forward thinkers, you want to cut operating costs and save money. You’d like to have open spaces with vaulted ceilings to make the rooms look larger. Can vaulted ceilings be achieved with the aforementioned features? Yes.

The Integrated Structural Insulated Panel (ISIP) roof system is the embodiment of the entire above paragraph. It’s been utilized by informed architects, builders and homebuyers for over 25 years. The ISIP® Roof System, by EAGLE PANEL SYSTEMS, has the rafters inherent in the system for strength. It’s comprised of Panels in the form of sandwiches of closed cell Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Insulation, rafters, usually 24” on center, and Oriented Strand Board (OSB) skins. The OSB skins act like the top and bottom chords of a truss. The farther apart the skins are, the stronger the panels. Likewise, the thicker the insulation is, the higher the R-Value. The synergy of combining rafter, truss and SIP roof systems into one ISIP allows longer roof spans and heavier snow loads. The pitch of the roof and the ceiling are one and the same. The home is under roof quickly. Heating and cooling costs are cut. The ISIP® Roof System is an ENERGY STAR® Qualified product and will help in achieving ENERGY STAR® Qualified homes, which have a better chance of being Green Certified.
